### 1) What do I get in each subscription plan?

vvd has four subscription tiers:

* **Free - 1 World, 20 Documents, 100MB Storage, Basic tools**
vvd will always be free to try, with no commitment required to start. This allows you to get a feel of the website and what it can do for you, as every worldbuilding tool (Cards, Canvas, Maps, Trees) is available already.

* **Hobbyist - 2 Worlds, Unlimited Documents, 1GB Storage, 3 Quill Stories, Full Tools access**
If you're working on something for fun, or if you're only working on a couple projects, this tier is for you.

* **Pro - No Limits, Public Publishing, Custom Domains, API Acess, and 3 Collaborators**
This is the tier you want if you're working on large projects with your friends, or if you've got a lot of stories that you want to write/GM.

* **Studio - 5 Collaborators + Purchaseable Seats, Roles & Permissions Control, Admin Panel, SSO & Audit Log**
This tier is for the professional teams with clear goals. If Studio is too small for you, please contact us to discuss the Enterprise plan.

You can check the prices for each subscription [here](https://vvd.world/pricing). Applicable taxes are calculated and added at checkout based on your country and currency.

| Users that subscribed before the 20th of August 2026 have a Legacy version of their subscription, maintaining the perks and limitations they had at the time they purchased it.

### 2) Can I cancel or pause my subscription? What happens if I do?

At the moment "pausing" in the sense of setting a time period to not be charged and then being charged automatically once the limit ends is *not available*.

You can, however, cancel your subscription, and pick back up again anytime. If you cancel halfway through the billing cycle, the subscription will remain active until the next time you would have been charged.

When you cancel, your documents and writing will NOT get deleted, and your share links will remain active both for Wiki and Quill. All your content stays accessible and editable, you just cannot add anything else to it until you subscribe again.

### 3) What payment methods do you have available? Will there be more in the future?

Right now, you can choose to pay for your subscription monthly, or annually. If you pay yearly, you get two months for free!

For most users we only have card payments available, but we will be adding other options, like PayPal, in the future. Users on the iPad App can use Apple Pay too, and Chinese users can use WeChat Pay.

We are currently looking into how we can make an adjustment to prices based on currency, but there is no estimate for when we will have this. As such, right now all users see the price in USD, and will pay the equivalent in their country's currency. Any applicable taxes are calculated and added at checkout based on the country and currency of the user.

# FAQ

### Is there an option for a one-time payment?

###### Short answer:
No. Subscriptions are the only way vvd can keep up with production and maintenance costs.

###### Long answer:
We're fully aware that a lot of places nowadays misuse subscriptions, and force them down people's throats at every opportunity just to make the people behind them more money. It's easy to assume that we're just another company doing that, but what many people don't realise is that despite everything it already has, vvd is very young, and nowhere near the endgame - what you see right now is only a fraction of what it will become.

The subscription model is the only one that allows us to have a consistent stream of funding to be able to keep vvd active and growing. We want to set ourselves apart from the others, and become truly unique by providing tools and services that don't exist anywhere else. We're already doing that with some of our current features - but despite these wins, we're not satisfied, we're not settling, and we're not stopping anytime soon.

We have no Patreon or Kickstarter. When you purchase a subscription you're not just buying more documents or worlds, you're investing into vvd, and ensuring development can continue. And that support is very much needed and appreciated. Plus, it will all benefit you too, because you'll get to use all the shiny new features and tools for your worldbuilding and storytelling.

### What is the fair use policy for media?

Fair use means reasonable usage for world-building purposes. We don't impose hard limits, but expect usage that aligns with typical world-building needs rather than using us as a general file storage service.
