# Properties

Properties help you set key key information for a card that you might not need or want to explain in the body text. Think population or exports for a city or family members and height for a character.

Properties can be references to a specific type or they can be a text property. For example if you have a card type called "Royal Family", you can set up a property on the Kingdom card which will allow you to add the family members' cards. A text property allows you to add things that are not cards, like height or age.

You can set up properties per card, or per type. 

* To add a property to a specific card, click the "Add Property" button under the card name.
* To have the same property on every single card of the type, go to the Types manager by clicking your world name at the top left of the screen.
